3/9/24- Doing What I Know

Hi Blog! My final storyboard draft is complete! It took a lot of trial and error (mainly because of my indecisiveness) however, my storyboard matches what my vision in my head about what I would like my film opening to look like. I believe that following my teachers advice on "doing what you know" was the greatest takeaway that I could have took when developing this story. Even though I did not lose my sister like Avery, I know how difficult the grieving process is and how your internal thoughts control your actions. My including more flashbacks, it gives a better insight into Avery's mind.

Unfortunately, since I am not on my own Mac Book (where I know how to operate Blogger smoothly), I have moved blogger on my mom's work computer since my phone was causing my troubles and my mom and I do not know how to upload pictures from there. Therefore, I have to wait until next blog post to upload my final storyboard :(

Even though my story is set, my research has yet to stop. As I have previously mentioned, our very first lessons in AICE Media Studies was shots, angles, and editing (which were all completed new to me). After scrapping my first film opening ideas, I was back at square one when I just started flipping through my AICE Media Studies notebook to have a glimpse at every lesson that I partook in for the past school year. That's when I say highlighted with a star, Jump Cuts. I immediately remembered why I made it so bold that is because I thought it was visually stunning to look. After remembering how cool it looked after viewing a few samples for the first time, I knew that I had to include it in my film opening. In other a good news, I rediscovered how to insert videos from YouTube! (I probably should have asked my teacher about that a while ago, sorry).

As soon as I established this idea, I knew I liked the idea of having flashbacks of old memories that Avery keeps with her. However, I did not know how exactly I envisioned them, where to include them, how I would shoot it, etc. (these are the main reasons that flashbacks were not included in my first storyboard drafts. After viewing ideas of shoots I may like, I grabbed a better feel as for what I would see in my film opening.

I especially was inspired by this flashback because of how striking and mysterious it appears. They're how I envisioned the quickness to be. I also admired how the mans face expressions appear to be as he is viewing this difficult flashbacks.

I am so excited to have a weight lifted off my chest now that my storyboard is set in place. As I furthered my research and also listening to advice that my teacher gave my class, it definitely helped me further advance my storyboard in order for it to be the best that I could possibly make it. In this next week I plan on figuring out sounds, music choices, costuming, finalizing my screenplay, and preparing for filming next weekend (which will take place at my house.) I am thrilled to be entering the next step in this project because I know I am just another step closer to seeing the final result of this hefty project. That is all for now :)
